Round Sixty Seven

23/1/24

324. Nags Head, Floral Street.

Beers:

Nags Head Bitter - Medium chestnut, bit sweaty on the nose, very drinkable, medium bodied , quite long tail, lovely.

River Town Helles - Light amber, medium froth, no real aroma, fizz on the tongue initially but doesn't last, tasty and hoppy.

323. The Maple Leaf, Maiden Lane.

Beers:

Founders All Day IPA - Hazyish, light mouthfeel, fizzing at the tip of the tongue, slightly bitter, bit hoppy.

Big Wave Golden Ale - Golden by name, golden by colour, bubbly, gentle wave, not so fizzy, rolls along the tongue, lagery.

322. The Marquis, Chandos Place.

Beers:

Elgoods Cambridge Gold - Very bitter, pale, quite clear, medium bodied, strong willed like any good woman.

Greyhound Strong Bitter - Lightly smokey, brown ale, froth, smoggy.

321.  The Horse and Guardsmen, Whitehall.

Beers:

Horse and Guardsmen Bitter - brown, brown bread aroma, mild, like buttery bread, would be a good accompaniment to food, very drinkable.

Macs AK - chestnut coloured, mild, not much nasally given away, medium bodied, fill tongue feel, lingering aftertaste, nutty.

320. The Silver Cross, Whitehall.

Beers:

Rocking Rudolph - it's good, Nat King Cole on the radio, open fire, presents under the tree, Rudolph rocking on the rooftop.

Greene King Hazy Day - very flippin hazy, like industrial age cloudy sky, fruity tail, appley.

319. Old Shades, Whitehall.

Beers:

Youngs Winter Warmer - a proper winter ale, deep roasted chestnut body, feels like stomach sitting next to an open fire with Nat King Cole on the radio, mulled and moved into beer state .

Youngs London Pale Ale - like licking a BBQ, light bodied , nice bitter starting flavour letting go to a deep smokey aromatic aftertaste.

318. The Clarence, Whitehall.

Beers:

Corona alcohol free - fizzy up front, light bodies, tasty in its own right, sweet, zesty.

Beavertown Satellite - very pale, bubbly, lightly frothy, floral, maybe a touch soapy, tasty.

317. The Red Lion, Parliament Street.

Beers:

Fuller's Black Cab - black, fairly standard stout flavour, nice but nothing special.

Fuller's Winter Ale - falsely advertised as warming, why so cold, lacking spice, disappointing, bitter bitter.

316. St Stephens Tavern, Bridge Street.

Beers:

Badger Best Bitter - bronze, peaty, medium to full bodies, fairly flat, pleasant.

St Stephens Lager - lager.

315. Camel and Artichoke, Lower Marsh.

Beers:

Brixton Low Voltage - spiky, light, low crackle of thunder, punchy, bitter as Mad Vlad.

Beaverton Neck Oil - sharp, low bitterness, funky and hipster, pretty good though.

314. Duke of Sussex, Baylis Road.

Beers:

Kronenberg Blanc - very smooth and pale, sweet, frothy, yellowy white.

Days Lager no alcohol - like shloer for beer, very light in colour and taste, lacks the yeasty and gassiness of a proper beer.
