Round Twenty Nine

08/05/17

119. The Bankers Draft, Eltham High Street.

A pretty reliable drinkery with a fine array of taps to ponder over.

Beers:

Ruddle's Best - reddish, clear, bready, medium bodied, smooth, barley notes, an inconsequential beer.

Nelson Brewery Neptune - crystal clear, quite light, very bitter, grapefruit tones, very wrathful like the sea god, bleachy.

118. The Park Tavern, Passey Place, Eltham.

A cute little place. Has the feel of an old watering hole outside but a mixture of a new wooden bar and my grandmothers old living room furniture confuse the place inside.

Beers:

Wadworth 6X - red and dark, small head on it, nice, prickle on the front, dies into a sweetness, a chestnut feel, very tasty and mildly fruity.

Jenning's Cumberland - dark amber, amber, little head, no aroma, melony, empty bodied, light, smooth, flavour comes mainly at the end, the most watery beer yet.

117. The Old Post Office, Passey Place, Eltham.

Really cool pub. As the name suggests, it's a former post office. As such, the decorations are old postal artifacts. Pretty spacious and could get lively on an evening.

Beers:

Clouded Minds Brewery Luppol - clear and amber, faint smell, consistently hoppy, washes out at the end.

Clouded Minds Brewery 99 - Pale amber, clear, sweet smell, sharp up front, hoppy, smooth, light bodied, a lull in the middle with a bitter finish, solid overall.

Round Twenty Eight

07/05/17

116. The Queens Head, Chistlehurst.

Fairly large pub-cum-restaurant. Family orientated and nice fireplaces.

Beers:

Black Sheep Ember Pale Ale - amber, clear, cheesy?, Light to medium bodied, crisp start smoothing out in the middle, tasty.

Curious Drinks Curious IPA - looks rather fizzy and is, clear, holds a decent head, reminds you of Parma violets (got a bit of sourness to it), very tasty.

115. The Ramblers Rest, Mill Place, Chistlehurst.

What a great pub! Lovely to sit in, quite country style old wooden pub. And the best bit, they hand out roast potatoes as free snacks. Outstanding.

Beers:

Well's Bombardier - clear, brown, barley smell, would very well accompany a good roast, meaty, smooth, a very accomplished beer.

Rambler's Special Ale - slightly unclear, bitter smell, holds a half decent head, full bodied, smooth, stouty texture, sweet ending, whisky edge.

114. The Crown, School Road, Chistlehurst.

A pretty decent fairly modern looking pub despite its age. Clearly keeps in good contact with it's local community and probably tourists too, going by the range of activity flyers in the doorway.

Beers:

Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger - clear and dark red, sweet smell, strong, cranberry fruitiness and caramel sweetness, quite rich and tasty.

Shepherd Neame Master Brew - dark red, no real aroma, very watery, bitterness comes through a lot at the end, hoppy.
