Round Six

18/04/16

25. The Fox and Hounds, Passmore Street.

A really great find. A small frontage amongst a housing estate. Very attractive though. Inside it's warm, it's cosy, it's all kinds of interesting. Some great artworks and a corner of collectables.

Beers:

Young's bitter - brown amber, yeasty smell, medium flat head, very smooth, minor fizz at the end.

Hook Norton Brewery The Lion - flat head, reddish colour, sweet smelling, hint of cherry, smooth finish.

24. The Duke Wellington, Eaton Terrace.

Although the Duke of Wellington himself was not present, his spirit was felt. Otherwise very ordinary but would not turn down their ale.

Beers:

No. 18 Yard Brewhouse Hog Island - hoppy, deceptive fizz, light, starts bitter then smooths out, full bodied.

Shepherd Neame Early Bird - dark red colour, clear, minimal head, bittersweet start, fruity, bitter finish.

23. The Antelope, Eaton Terrace.

More like it! A wooden panelled classic drinkers pub where you can really drown your sorrows.

Beers:

Fuller's London Pride - dark clear amber, sweet smell, yeasty middle, smooth finish.

Harvester Blonde Ale - hoppy smell, pale, hoppy full bodied start, smooth.

22. The Orange, Pimlico Road.

Another modern take on a classic British pub. A bit too trendy and not enough atmos.

Beers:

Adnam's Lighthouse - cloudy, amber, flat, if you want to lubricate your bike wheels this is the beer to use, no real ending.

Crate Brewery Pale Ale - yellowish amber, rather fizzy, disgracefully bitter.

21. The Thomas Cubitt, Elizabeth Street.

Trendy and modern corner pub. It was alright.

Beers:

Station Works The Journeyman Session IPA - extremely bitter and grapefruity, light amber colour, slight fizz, smells citrusy.

Thomas Cubitt 1788 - brown, yeasty beginning middle and end, a slightly bitter end.
