Four sectioned rooms with a central linking bar. Not too much on tap but the bar games are good. Aside from classic board games, a dartboard hides away in the corner. One game a piece. Top darting.
Beers:
Beers:
Sam Smith's The India Ale - amber ale, lightly fizzy, medium body, lightly citrus and medium bitterness, crisp.
Sam Smith's Old brewery Bitter - reddish amber, mild, subtle strawberry flavour, very smooth, no crescendo.
Our first pub. What a cracker. Our favourite bits are the hundreds of old beer mats pasted onto the bar surround, and the stained windows. Two chaps outside spotted "the bible" (the pub guide of Great Britain) on us and wished us the best of luck.
Beers:
2. The Lamb and Flag, Rose Street.
An early outstanding drinkery. Small and cosy, it boasts a fireplace, a pub cat and very old oak beams. Tankards hang from the bar surround and a plaque outside commemorates a scuffle from 1679 in which John Dryden was nearly "done to death".
Beers:
Jack frost - medium flavoured beer, Red hue, not strong but quite fruity and smooth.
Oliver's island - golden colour, slight bitterness, mildly lemony.

Beers:
Windsor and Eton Knight of the Garter - sweet, but very bitter, golden in colour.
Weird Bear Brewing Co. Black Perle - full bodied, stout, oaky, mildly bitter, aniseed aftertaste.
